IDEA BASE LEARNING

The Curriculum provides a platform for students to conceptualise and validate ideas by canvassing, provoking, challenging, and questioning, people, places, things and systems. Through team and individual projects involving external partners and tutored by practising designer and design researches, students determine their own design culture whilst building a portfolio of work that will locate them in their desired professional context.

Educating students to be design leaders who address real-world challenges through balancing high levels of creativity and technical capability with contextual insight and empathy for people.

TEXTILE WORLD

Will acquire technical and conceptual skills to create soft products informed by material, purpose, and the sense of touch. A wide range of technical processes and topics including weaving, dyeing, printing, embellishment, surface design, felting, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, laser cutting, digital print and pattern design. Student are encouraged to discover new ways of working through material experimentation. With the guidance of faculty, students develop an individualized language of color, pattern and texture, both planar and sculptural in form. Traditional and non- traditional methods of creation, and an interdisciplinary approach to technology (fabrication and production), are integrated into the program.
